There are a lot of iconic bike and component brands that hail from Portland, Oregon. But when it comes to precision, quality bike bling, Chris King Precision Components is one of the first brands that come to mind. With that in mind, 35 years after it first launched, King’s 3D Violet is now officially released for the ’23 season.

The 3D Violet is said to be inspired by the 1980s BMX culture and became their first “color” following the iconic black and silver headsets they had become known for. The original 3D Violet was first introduced back in 1988, and after a wild success, 3D Violet became the catalyst for Chris King to launch their colored anodizing program which has become a big part of the company’s attention-grabbing identity.
“Over the years, we’ve produced a variety of eye-catching colors,” Says Chris King Design manager, Jay Sycip. “Having introduced several matte finishes recently, we decided it was the perfect time to bring back a classic, highly requested color, and 3D Violet was the standout choice.”
