The Strade Bianche men’s and women’s races will take place on Saturday 4th March 2023, with the men’s race covering 184km and the women’s race over 136km.
With this the 17th edition for the men and ninth for the women, it’s a race still in its infancy, but Strade Bianche has nonetheless already entered cycling folklore and makes for unmissable viewing thanks to an intriguing parcours across the picturesque Tuscany countryside, battling the unpaved white roads that dissect the many fields and vineyards.

While, for the purists at least, Strade Bianche isn’t technically a Classic, it stands alongside the early season northern Classics in its mix of paved and unpaved surfaces and the variability of the weather conditions. Often, the race is on dry, dusty roads, but a bit of rain, as in 2018, can quickly turn them to mud, caking the riders.
Last year’s winner was Tadej Pogačar, who attacked solo with 50km to go and stayed ahead of the pack all the way to Siena’s Piazza del Campo, winning by 37 seconds over the now-retired Alejandro Valverde.
In the women’s race, SD Worx’s Lotte Kopecky outsprinted Annemiek van Vleuten of Movistar, denying her a third Strade Bianche win.
