State Bicycle Co. just updated their affordable 4130 All-Road gravel bike with two fresh fade paint jobs and a few new features for 2023, all for just $900. Find more details and photos here…
The State 4130 All-Road is a steel gravel bike with clearance for big tires, lots of mounting options, and your choice of 650b or 700c wheels, all for just $900. It’s based around a 4130 Chromoly Steel frame, a 1×11 drivetrain, clearance for 27.5 x 2.1″ tires, and is topped off with all the mounting points you’d ever need, including quad-pack mounts on the matching Chromoly Steel fork. On paper, it’s one of the best-equipped gravel bikes for the price. While State has released some new colors and build options, not much has changed since it was first announced back in 2020—until now.
The new State 4130 All-Road shares all the same specs and features as the one we reviewed, but it now comes with an updated rear derailleur with an internally adjustable clutch, and the latest builds come with hydraulic brakes. Both updates seem promising, especially considering the less-than-exciting stock mechanical brakes that were being specced originally.
State has also introduced two new flat bar 4130 All-Road colors for 2023: Turquoise Fade and Rust Fade. Don’t take our word for it, but we think these are the nicest 4130 All-Road paint jobs they’ve released yet. The complete builds are based around a State-branded Sensah 1×11 drivetrain, State’s Black Label Riser Bars, and your choice of Vittoria Terreno 700 x 38mm or Vittoria Barzo 650b x 2.2″ tires. As always, State offers a second complete wheelset for just $399, a carbon fork for $299, tubeless conversion kits, and several other upgrades. The frame is offered in four sizes, there are also drop-bar builds available on their website, and some of the older color options are currently on sale.
The latest State 4130 All-Road costs $899.99 USD and is available now from StateBicycle.com.
