Every now and again, someone reaches out with an unusual new product that grabs our attention. Days on tracks (DOT) is a supplier of carrier systems and racks, mostly for trucks and campers, that’s based out of Saxony, Germany. Earlier this month they released their first bicycle rack, which is the end result of over a year of design and development. The DOT QUBA Bike Rack is probably one of the most interesting front racks we’ve seen to date. Unlike most bicycle racks, the QUBA isn’t constructed from tubing, but rather laser-cut stainless steel sections. According to DOT, this saves weight, maintains strength, and allows the rack to be bent back into shape after a crash.

The DOT QUBA Bike Rack features a variable-height top platform, two adjustable struts on either side, and cargo cages that serve as the mounting point on the fork. The cages appear to be compatible with both two-pack and three-pack fork mounts, and are slotted like the rest of the rack to adjust the position. The top platform secures to the bike via a standard fork crown mount. Each rack includes a single cargo strap, is compatible with 29 x 3.0″ or 27.5 x 3.0″ tires, and can be ordered raw or with a powder coated finish in all black or black/orange. At 887 grams (1.9 pounds), it’s heavier than some of our favourite lightweight front racks, including the popular Tumbleweed T-Rack, but the Erector Set vibes of the QUBA bike rack make it totally unique.
